Yesterday's View

Looking back at old history text books in an antiquarian book shop made me draw breath and led me to put pen to paper.

History tells of men of old
Of ways and means they bought and sold.
Their lives and the way they look
Are stated in the history book.
The ways the world was run
And how their battles were fought and won,
The good and bad of kings and queens,
The Germans with their evil schemes,
The way the Jews were hated
And how their plans were fated.
Life back then is judged and told
But only through facts as they unfold.
One man’s view is not another's
Nor one man’s truth, that of-his brothers
