This thought came to me standing in the banks of the river Ehen near a gentle swirling pool where litter gathered as if resting on the journey down stream.
Standing under the tree
I watched a leaf flutter down.
It danced on the unseen air and
The breeze flicked it as gently aside
As the Squeezy bottle I saw on the tide.
The leaf floated to its verdant bed
And lay motionless
Among -
Tin cans
Plastic bottles
Bottle tops
Rubber dolls (headless)-
And began its return to the earth
To feed its mother
And another
And another
2010
