Awe and Wonder

A favourite place of mine is Fleswick Bay, hidden in the cleft between St Bees North Head and the South Head.  Here you can be quite alone with the raw presence of nature. ( Ignore the flotsam and jetsam at the entrance).  A visit left me feeling the awe and wonder of this wonderful place.

Thank your god for heaven sent
For heaven sent, thank god.
For:
Shimmering leaves hung
Wind-whipped, and
Back-dropped, deep-deep blue;
For:
Breath-drawing
Waves, lapping
Wide-rolling relentlessly, under
Stark stood
Black-backed ancient mountains;
For:
Rock-rolling, foam-boiling
On rust red ribs;
For:
Thermal-riding
Firm form-lined
Wind-wheeling barons free.
For:
Awe-and-wonder stirring the heart
Drawing mind-breath from reality.

Thank your god for heaven sent
For heaven sent, thank your god.
